Star Wars Genesis is a WIP free, fan-made total conversion project for Starfield. It is fully playable via the Wabbajack auto-installer and receives regular updates and expansions. This is not your typical modlist that combines every mod out there into a jumbled mess and calls it a day, but a carefully structured project built around extensive original creations and systems of my own, thoughtfully incorporating assets and resources from many talented authors. From fully developed faction storylines and large-scale location conversions to a redesigned HUD, environmental and prop replacements, curated music integration, gameplay balancing, and more. Each element is deliberately integrated to ensure a cohesive experience guided by a clear long-term vision.
Star Wars Genesis is developed with a gameplay-first philosophy. The goal is an immersive RPG with a unique story and expansive endgame, rather than a re-skin of Starfield with the same flaws. It strives to improve the base game by implementing bug fixes, new and enhanced gameplay features, expanded RPG mechanics, upgraded visuals, and more. Vanilla Starfield is best described as a bland exploration game with simply nothing out there for you to explore. Thousands of planets filled with the same repetitive locations, biomes, and enemies. Genesis addresses that by adding new, unique experiences across the galaxy. It is fundamentally different from Starfield at this point, with an expanding list of all gameplay changes here.
Choose to align yourself with either the Empire or the Rebellion and begin climbing through the ranks within their evolving questlines, or carve out an entirely different path of your own. Navigate the vast underworld of Coruscant, moving through shadowed black markets while avoiding Imperial patrols and surveillance. Venture across the galaxy to uncover hidden locations and long-buried secrets, from the ruins of Mandalore and forgotten Clone Wars battlefields on Geonosis to ancient structures on Tython, the frozen wastelands of Hoth, and the barren deserts of Tatooine. The possibilities are endless and expanding with every update.
Star Wars Genesis is striving to create an experience unlike anything else. It aims to become a definitive RPG set in a harsh and unforgiving galaxy not yet explored in modern Star Wars media. Heavily inspired by classic titles such as Star Wars Galaxies, Knights of the Old Republic, and the broader Legends continuity, it remains a work in progress, steadily evolving with each update.
Who will you be in this new galaxy?

General
Genesis is a free, fan-made total conversion modlist for Starfield. It is created with a deep love and appreciation for Star Wars. It is not meant to put down or compete with any other Star Wars game or media, and I have no desire to ever charge money for it, profit from it, or seek crowdfunding. This project operates entirely at my own expense and has resulted in a significant financial loss.
Over the past two years, thousands of people around the world have installed and enjoyed Star Wars Genesis. It is strictly a free, single-player, offline modification of Starfield. It cannot function as a standalone game, has no online component, and exists solely as an experience within Starfield’s framework. It is better understood as an open-source collection of modifications than as a standalone distributed application. I believe this distinction is important because some past Star Wars fan projects blurred the line between a fan modification and a commercial product, leading to legal disputes and damaging perceptions of the broader modding community. Genesis has never pursued that approach. It has always been a free, non-commercial fan project created out of appreciation for Star Wars.
Star Wars Genesis stands alongside many longstanding fan projects that have coexisted with Lucasfilm’s and Disney’s policies toward non-commercial fan creations, including Galactic Contention (Squad), The Outer Rim (Blade & Sorcery), Star Wars Conquest (Mount & Blade: Warband), Star Wars Interworlds (X4: Foundations), Project Kathun (Kenshi), and Starwind (Morrowind).
AI Usage
Genesis features a combination of performances by real voice actors and licensed AI-generated voices. All AI-generated voices used in the project are licensed through the ElevenLabs Voice Library. No voices are trained on the performances of in-game actors, official Star Wars performers, or any other identifiable individual. While the ethical use of AI-generated voices continues to be widely discussed, Genesis is committed to using them in accordance with applicable laws and licensing requirements. We strongly believe that voice actors own their performances, which is why Genesis only uses voices created by or licensed from individuals who have voluntarily made them available through ElevenLabs. Any resemblance to a real person’s voice is purely coincidental and unintentional.
Music
Genesis primarily features music composed by Jeremy Soule and Mark Griskey, both of whom have granted permission for their work to be used in the project. It also includes original music created by independent artists within the Genesis community. Genesis does not contain any music composed by John Williams.
Assets
All assets in Genesis are either Starfield assets modified to fit the Star Wars aesthetic or custom assets created or purchased by the team.
