Star Wars Genesis 8.8.0 Patch Notes

Huge Coruscant revamp and capital ship breakthrough. Lots of prop replacements, cleanup, and voiceline replacements. Primarily setting things up for the the continuation of the main story.

Coruscant 3.0
  • Revamped the lighting of Coruscant and lit the entire place up. The planet has been tidally locked behind the scenes so that the undercity is always dark and looks nice with pre-set lighting rather than the sun shining through objects unrealistically. Weather has been been pre-set so that light scatters, creating a unique effect
  • Revamped the upper Coruscant area and converted the main section into an Imperial hub, with security checkpoints and increased foot soldiers. Now renamed to “Imperial Sector”.
  • The bug where your screen would flash white (flashbanged) when transitioning between cells has been fixed due to removing the artificial darkness from Coruscant 2.0
  • Increased handplaced crowd density (more NPCs in curated animation markers)
  • Made a separate leveled list for the crowd mercenaries with a bigger emphasis on clothing/padding rather than elite armor
  • All stormtroopers guarding the undercity now hold blasters in their hands
  • Renamed Scout Troopers to Imperial Sharpshooters
  • Edited a variety of unique NPCs throughout the city
  • a bunch of other small changes that you’ll discover
Props & Environment
  • Replaced over 50 small/medium sized vanilla props with Star Wars variants
  • Replaced dozens of starstation wall greebles (wip)
  • Fixed collision issues with dozens of my old prop replacements from 2024/2025 (no collision, too big collision, etc)
  • Removed the mando graffiti and rebel poster from the public variations of the terminals
  • Replace the model of the main lodge door
Main Quest
  • Completely rewrote most locational chats for Alira, Cade, and Shanni (700+ total). I tried to prioritize the most impactful locational ones first like Coruscant, Dantooine, Geonosis, etc as well as ones specifically mentioning vanilla Starfield characters such as Cora. There’s still some Starfield references left like “spacesuit” that I’ll get to eventually.
  • Converted the remaining 1 on 1 conversations with Alira and Cade that occur after going to the first temple
  • Disabled all 1 on 1 affinity conversations with main cast.
Explanation: The 4 main story companions in Starfield each have 8 total story gates. As soon as you unlock them as a follower, you can progress the story gates with them without ever progressing the actual main quest, purely from building affinity with them. The amount of work to convert 8+ long nested personal conversations and their following side quests is simply too out of scope right now. The time would be better spent finishing the actual main quest first. This is DIFFERENT from the conversations you have ABOUT the main quest with your companions, which are only locked behind the requirement of completing a specific main quest. Those will be converted, along with conversations about other major questlines you do (like Imperial/Rebel).
Outposts
  • Replaced much of the outpost storage containers, generators, and other non-structure buldables with star wars equivalent models
  • Removed “Star Wars Disguise” workbench recipe in outpost UI
  • Removed vanilla Action Hero workbench recipe in outpost UI
Capital Ships and Space Stations
  • Removed the 2 static Star Destroyers from Coruscant orbit and added a single AI controlled one (AI = can engage in combat, move around, etc)
  • Replaced and renamed Polvo Station (in Mobetta) with a Gallofree Yards Space Station model, along with an AI controlled GR-75 transport guarding it
  • Added 2 parked Star Destroyer set pieces to the Kuat Driver Yards medical station along with a single AI controlled Star Destroyer guarding it
  • Added an AI controlled Quasar in the orbit of Dantooine
  • Added an AI controlled Star Destroyer in the orbit of Geonosis
  • Replaced the model of the Sienar Technologies space station and added an AI controlled Star Destroyer defending it (will be changed to Interdictor when model is available)
Note: While the speed of the Star Destroyers has been reduced to the point that they’re realistic, their turn speed has not. This is still partly experimental
Orbital Scans
  • All major orbital scan dialogue and voicelines have been redone
  • Nar Shaddaa ones no longer mention rebel affiliation and are neutral
  • Dantooine ones are secretive and don’t outright mention any rebel affiliation
  • Imperial world ones are authoritative and strict
  • It goes without saying that the vanilla voicelines mentioning Cydonia, HopeTown, etc are fully replaced
  • KDY and Sienar hails are also changed/converted
News Announcements
  • Majority of the news announcements that were mainly vanilla with Star Wars words have been completely replaced with generic Imperial propaganda, while quest specific ones will reference the passage of the time and provide Imperial POV of recent events
  • For example, you’ll hear about partisans bombing imperial civilians as soon as you complete the first rebel quest, rather than hearing news about the skirmish on Dantooine that the Empire obviously would have no idea about. You’ll also hear about Mon Mothma’s recent declaration since the rebel questline happens during 2 BBY
  • During the Imperial questline, you’ll hear about the rakghoul outbreak on Coruscant and how it’s immediately blamed on the rebels, with follow-ups relating to the events your character immediately does after with a certain rebel cell.
  • Same goes for the rebel side quest on Aldhani

Note: Any unconverted side quests that you do will still have corresponding vanilla news play

Performance
  • Switched around 15 GB of textures to LZ4 compression, which slightly decreases VRAM usage and heavily boosts overall performance/stability
  • Added the recently revived Disk Cache Enabler mod, which should improve performance for slower SSDs and possibly boost FPS in heavy areas.
Misc. Voicelines/Dialogue
  • Converted the conversation between the Imperial pilot and ground crew when you first enter the mining colony on Geonosis
  • Re-converted the historian monologue in the Imperial Archives, as it contained old genesis lore
  • Re-converted the refugee conversation in the front of Coruscant, as it contained old genesis lore (note that that actual convo after interacting with these NPCs are still old)
3rd Person Melee Animations
  • Switched to the vanilla block version of SFBM Battle Moves, as it looks like the right click attack is barely used by people and causes more confusion. I also believe this alternative allows for higher skill expression:
    • Pressing right click now brings up your block for a few seconds. The block animation cannot be cancelled by your left click attack, but it can be cancelled with the dodge skill.
    • Additionally, you can instantly block after the 2nd attack of the left click chain
Bug Fixes
  • Fixed a few more helmets that you guys reported weren’t properly working in 1st person while flying a ship
  • Fixed an issue where the install recipe for the attuned orange crystal required a base orange kyber crystal
  • Fixed a bug where a specific glove model would prevent any helmet flashlight from working (affects clone armor, crafted mando armor, elite sniper armor)
  • Updated to latest version of dodge framework which fixed the animation/distance bug with it
  • Renamed the Rebel Terminal in KDY Medical Spaceport to Imperial
  • Fixed a few resources that had name mismatches between the recipe vs the actual item
  • Fixed the description of Tuning Calculations
  • Disabled a few leftover quest triggers for some previously disabled vanilla starfield quests
NPCs
  • Removed the vanilla miner apparel from all Geonosis miners and gave them a variety of scrapper armor instead
  • Swapped a few NPCs in Coruscant to Imperial uniforms, such as the historian and initial functionary
  • Changed the armor of the Gallofree spaceport operator from rebel to mechanic
Force Slow Ability
  • Updated source code to latest version which came with additional gamepad support
UI
  • Rewrote some remaining load screen tooltips from old Genesis lore
  • Added a custom warning message for Genesis users when launching the Creation Store
  • Rewrote the “Quit to Desktop” message and added a note emphasizing not to quit to the main menu and only quit to desktop
Installer
  • Improved the installer and made it fetch the latest version of Genesis automatically, as too many people were using the old exe for some reason
Cleaning
  • Removed the “Mos Eisley Cantina” mod in Dantooine/Akila since it wasn’t seamless and didn’t really fit
Starfield Update
  • Updated SFSE mods to latest version of Starfield (it was just another pointless console oriented update)
