Resolution Stuck on 1280×720

This is a vanilla bug with some monitors. Try some of these fixes:

  • Turn borderless fullscreen off and on
  • Change scale layout to 100%

Failed to Save Game

  1. Disable Steam Cloud Save
  2. Check Documents\My Games\Starfield\Saves. If any of these folders don’t exist, create them in that order.
  3. Under Virus and Threat Protection Settings (Windows Security), go to “Manage Controlled Folder Access” whitelist the Starfield folder in both /Documents/My Games/Starfield and /steamapps/common/Starfield. If you have OneDrive enabled, make sure you whitelist the correct documents folder for Starfield. For example it would be something like: %yourname%/OneDrive/Documents
  4. Disable OneDrive Sync as a last resort

Long Loading Times (not Infinite)

If you are spending minutes on load screens, then I’m sorry to break the news to you that either:

  • Your SSD is dying
  • You installed Genesis/Starfield external SSD, SATA SSD, or an HDD, which are below the minimum requirements for Genesis.
  • To verify either, download the application called Crystal Disk. If you see any mention of RPM, you have an HDD. If you see a red temperature or health screen, then your hard drive is dying. If none of those apply, download Crystal DIsk Mark and test the speed of your SSD. NVMe drives should have at least 4,000+ MB/s read/write speed.

Settings not Saving

If settings are not saving after a restart of the game, then the problem is that Windows Defender (or some other antivirus) is restricting access to your Documents folder and not letting Starfield itself edit it. In the Windows Defender protection history screen, allow Starfield.exe to access the files.

White Lightsaber

This is an issue with your Documents folder setup. Try the fixes below:

  • Manual Documents Install
  • Check that Windows Defender isn’t restricting Starfield.exe from accessing files.
  • Edit the folder security settings and grant the “Everyone” group full control:
    • Star Wars Genesis folder
    • Starfield Documents folder
    • Starfield folder

Beyond this point, I can’t help much. From my experience, the common denominator among people who experience this bug is that they followed a random “Debloat Windows” guide on YouTube. It’s best to find that video and undo what you did.

Inaccessible Ship/Missing Dock Prompt

If you are encountering docking/inaccessible ship issues, the most common fix is to just save and restart.

If you find this issue is reproducible, then it’s most likely related to outdated/missing VC++ drivers blocking one of the SFSE mods related to ships. This is a tricky issue because StarWarsGenesisSetup.exe automatically installs VC++ drivers, so the only probable explanation is that something on your PC blocked the installation of it. You can install them manually following the instructions here.

If you are still encountering issues after, I recommend looking more into VC++ troubleshooting online rather than wasting time reinstalling the modlist/game, as this isn’t really a Genesis issue. I’ve had people upload a save where they can’t dock/enter their ship to Discord and then multiple people were able to load that save and dock/board fine. It is something with your PC that’s causing it.

Missing Floor in Geonosis

This bug is related to file corruption occurring somewhere in the game or modlist files. It is not “save corruption” because I have loaded saves from users experiencing this bug and everything was fine on my end. I don’t like to accuse people, but there is strong evidence that this bug is caused by either of the following scenarios:

  • playing the modlist on pirated Starfield
  • installing the modlist using an outdated fork of Wabbajack (such as Wabbajack Unlocked)
  • playing with additional mods

If you didn’t do any of those things, I suggest performing a clean wipe and reinstall of Starfield. If that doesn’t work, perform a repair of the modlist.

Bugged Jetpack Flames or Floating Jetpack

Briefly enter the character edit menu and then leave it. Use this console command:

  • showlooksmenu player 2

Quest NPC Keeps Attacking or are Hostile

This is a vanilla Bethesda bug. It has 2 solutions.

  1. Sleep/Wait 48 hours at some bed/chair/furniture
  2. If that doesn’t work and you’re in some stealth mission, use the tdetect console command to make yourself invisible to NPCs until you reach the next objective. Then use it again to turn it off.

Planets/Dialogue not changed

Make sure your language for Starfield is set to English on Steam. Just be aware that you will still hear vanilla voicelines with mis-matching subtitles often as this is a WIP. The main focus has been on the main quest and faction quests if you want a fully converted experience.

Can’t Open Lodge Door or Any Door

Common vanilla Bethesda bug. Just restart game or reload save.

Ship Missing in Alternate Start

Just talk to the technician and briefly enter the build menu and it should spawn. Can also try fast traveling somewhere else

Can’t Fast Travel

This is a vanilla Bethesda bug that is pretty easy to fix.
  1. Open the Console and type ‘DumpInputEnableLayers’ then hit Enter.
  2. You should see a list of three or four numbered Layers, find the Layer that has Fast Travel listed.
  3. Type ‘ResetInputEnableLayer NUMBER’ with the number of the layer where it says NUMBER, then hit Enter.

Everything is Invisible/Grey/Purple

The only real time I’ve seen this happen is when a Creation Kit mod author forgot to rename their Materials folder back to bMaterials (or anything but Materials) in their Data folder for Starfield
