Migration to New Installer
As of 8/17/25, more than 200 total mods have been updated since 8.1 and we have also moved on to a new and easier install process. You are better off just deleting your old Star Wars Genesis folder and starting fresh with the New Install guide. It will take significantly longer for you to update than to do a new install.

Archived Steps to Migrate
I am done helping people with this process. If you try to do the steps below instead of a new install, mess it up, then ask for help; I’m just gonna tell you to delete everything and start over with a new install.
As Star Wars Genesis develops over time, the install process and difficulty of it will also get simpler. For version 8.1 and after, we now have a pre-setup installer called StarWarsGenesisSetup.exe. No more having to create 3 different folders manually and replace your old compiler. Updates will just be you running the installer and then automatically open into Wabbajack.
In order to migrate to the format of this new installer, you will to do a one-time cleanup of your old install. This will not touch your saves or extra mods in your Genesis install you marked as [NoDelete].
- Close Mod Organizer
- Delete the old Compiler and Wabbajack folder
- Rename your current Star Wars Genesis folder to Game. This should be the folder that has ModOrganizer.exe inside it
- Download StarWarsGenesisSetup.exe from here and run it. Make sure you set the install location so that it creates the new Star Wars Genesis folder in the same root directory of your drive where your 3 folders were. Make sure the drive letter (K,C, D, etc) is correct.
- Wabbajack will automatically open after the install. Minimize it and move your renamed Game folder into the new Star Wars Genesis folder. That’s it for the cleanup. Updates should be a lot more easier after this.
- Simply return back to the Update Guide of the website and follow the rest of the instructions
