F.A.Q.

If you’re here seeking tech support, refer to the respective categories below. The Self Help section is the easiest to navigate and what I recommend most people use, assuming they’ve gotten past the Wabbajack install and have opened Mod Organizer:

Is this all actually made by one person?

No, it is not. Star Wars Genesis is a modlist, which means it is a very curated list of mods for Starfield. The misconception that this is all done by one person comes from the fact that Star Wars Genesis is managed by one person (me) and a significant portion of Genesis mods and features are made by me, on top of the creation of this website and advertising done on my YouTube channel. But still, calling it all “my work” is a vast understatement.

Without me, Genesis would not be possible. Without other mod authors such as the ones listed here, Genesis would also not be possible. The best way I can describe it is a mix of a direct and indirect group effort. I have a clear goal with Genesis, and I often use free assets from other mods or paid assets that I commissioned to achieve that goal. At the same time, many volunteers contribute directly to Genesis and follow my guidelines. It’s complicated, but the answer to the above question isn’t. Star Wars Genesis is NOT all made by a single person.

Lightsabers?

I am not adding lightsabers to Genesis until Bethesda releases an animation framework and we get better melee animations and a dodge keybind. The 3rd person vanilla melee combat in Starfield is one of the worst melee combat systems made in the history of triple A gaming. 2002’s Morrowind had better melee combat.

if you absolutely cannot play without lightsabers, then you might be interested in Mojo’s Lightsaber Mod. Just be aware that this is an unofficial Genesis addon that changes many aspects of Genesis beyond my vision, such as progression and general lorebuilding. It also is very experimental and thus can result in many unintended bugs such as broken quests. Any issues you encounter with this mod installed do NOT go in the Genesis Help or Bug Reports channel. Unless you have xEdit and can absolutely verify the bug is a Genesis issue and there’s no Mojo conflict, then don’t bother. Mojo has his own Discord for that.

Xbox Version?

Star Wars Genesis is never coming to Xbox/Creations. There is no scenario in the future of this happening. Genesis isn’t even installable on PC Game Pass or Microsoft versions of Starfield due to the artificial limitations that Microsoft has set on it. Additionally, here is a long list of other reasons why it will never happen:

  • Xbox has a 100 GB modlist limit and Genesis is almost double that
  • Creations has a 2 GB limit for individual mods and Genesis has many mods above that limit
  • Creations does not allow loose file while the functionality of Genesis depends on loose files due to the BA2 limit of Starfield
  • Sound replacement mods don’t work properly on Xbox
  • Creations doesn’t support SFSE mods, which half of Genesis depends on.
  • Creations does not have an automatic modlist installer, which is the only realistic way Genesis would ever be installed

Are there force powers?

Yes. A few.

Can I update outdated mods in the list? Can I use LOOT on the list?

I will lose my shit if you come to my Discord asking for help with an obscure bug and I found out you used LOOT on my modlist or updated a mod that I left purposely outdated. The Ship of Theseus applies to many of the mods in this list. I have patched and edited some of them to the point that there’s no remnant of the original mod left. You going and updating a mod, breaking something I did, then asking me for help fixing it or submitting a bug report about it will probably get kicked from the Discord.

Can I add more mods to the list?

Yes, but it is not something the average person is gonna have much success in, depending on the complexity of the mods involved. You MUST refer to my guide on how to add additional mods to Star Wars Genesis here and you MUST only ask for help in channels marked for modified installs.
