Existing Save Issue Documentation
This is a list of all known issues with existing saves each update. Star Wars Genesis at it’s current state is “Existing Save Friendly” and plans to remain that way, with minor bugs that are often introduced each update. Of course, these bugs may add up over time, and some of them may not be fixable. It goes without saying that someone going from like 8.3->9.7 is going to have a much buggier experience than someone going from 8.3->8.4.
8.6 Update
- During a certain point of the main story, players are given a hidden “Force Sensitive” perk in 8.6+. This grants you access to specific perks and dialogues. If you’ve already completed the main story, then you won’t retroactively have this perk. In order to obtain it, you can just give yourself the perk using console commands like so:
- help “force sensitive” (note down the largest perk ID number)
- player.addperk <id> (without the < and >)
- Too difficult for you? Use the “slm 14” console command and change your background to any of the force sensitive ones.
- Many armors in 8.6 have been reworked with curated legendary perks such as Lightsaber Deflection, Force Power bonuses, etc. Any existing armor in your inventory will not have these perks. You can simply spawn in another set of that armor to get the updated version. Find a list of all armors in genesis and their IDs here.
- The force power trainer on Tython will not be a boss on existing saves, even if you’ve never visited Tython before. You can still learn powers from him though of course.
- It goes without saying that if you’ve completed the UC Questline already, then you won’t be able to experience this new one.
- I have soft disabled many vanilla quests and questlines. If you already have one of these quests ongoing, nothing bad will happen so don’t worry. Just please don’t do them obviously.
- Many armors that everyday NPCs were using have been integrated within Genesis, meaning you may see these NPCs as naked in cities. You will have to follow this guide to fix them: How to Fix a Broken NPC
8.5 Update
- Anyone who’s interacted and gotten a force power from the trainer in Tython has broken their Force Essence counter. The issue that was causing it is fixed in 8.5, but I’m not really sure how to fix the counter for people who’ve already interacted with the trainer. I suggest trying to use these console commands one by one. If any of these make it go from that huge negative number to a positive one (you see the counter in your Powers menu), then go the trainer and get a power from them. Doing so should permanently fix the counter and allow you to continue getting essence when you kill Vong.
- player.setav quantumessence 5
- player.modav quantumessence 5
- player.forceav quantumessence 5
- Certain characters involved in the Rebel storyline won’t have their appearance changes/outfits if you’ve already met them. This includes Ron Gallofree and the people inside the medical space station. How to Fix a Broken NPC
- The main story prologue quest that tells you to go to the lodge has been added again to your quest log since I integrated it into Genesis. Just complete it.
8.4 Update
- The Echelon starter ship that replaces the Frontier is royally bugged. If you try to modify it, you will crash. It also might randomly turn back into the Frontier, or vice versa. Just don’t use it.
- If you have already met Nas Choka and Nom Anor in their ship, their faces will be permanently bugged on that save. Their human heads will be sticking out through their alien head. This is just a visual bug and won’t break anything.
- The new dynamic repair cost mechanic may or may not work on existing saves. If it doesn’t work, it just means you still have the cheap repair cost.
- Some reworked weapons from the patch notes will have to be respawned in to have their new changes if you already have one in your inventory. Nothing bad will happen if you still keep them though.
8.3 Update
- Walter might be half human and half Chiss. Disabling and enabling him should fix him. He might have only 1 red eye instead of two though. How to Fix a Broken NPC
- If you were in the progress of doing the Shadow Collective intro questline as an Imperial Recruit, the quest will be impossible to complete. You will have to start the quest through the crime method instead.
- Some reworked weapons from the patch notes will have to be respawned in to have their new changes if you already have one in your inventory. Nothing bad will happen if you still keep them though.
8.2 Update
- Previously visited Coruscant, Dantooine, and Nar Shaddaa ship vendors will not sell the new ships
