BitDefender Troubleshooting

If you do not perform these steps, your modded Starfield will crash as soon as you start a new game or it won’t even make it to the title screen. I promise you that your BitDefender is not special and will give a false-positive like everyone else’s BitDefender. I have helped people for DAYS to only find out they had BitDefender. Please do not ignore these steps and read carefully.

  1. Add an exception for Starfield.exe to Advanced Threat Defense
  2. Whitelist this directory: \Star Wars Genesis (or wherever you put the Star Wars Genesis folder)
  3. Whitelist this directory:  \steamapps\common\Starfield (or wherever your Starfield is installed)

Norton Troubleshooting

I am told you can disable the Antivirus + Firewall for the duration of the installation, assuming you have a normal Norton install. Other users have had to add exceptions or completely uninstall it to get it working. It’s a hit or miss.

Kaspersky Troubleshooting

From the small sample size of users who have this antivirus, I am told to just follow the same steps above that BitDefender has.

McAfee Troubleshooting

Having McAfee in 2025 is counterintuitive. It might as well be a virus. Delete that bloatware off your system. There’s countless tutorials on how to do it online. Do not expect to get help in the Genesis Discord server on how it uninstall it. It completely blocks Genesis from running. You will probably have to repair the modlist after using Wabbajack.
